I didn’t like the first batch of Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lipsticks that I got, but somehow kept buying them because they’re often on sale on Asos, and I was a bit perplexed at the hype they were getting. The latest one I tried was Ole Flamingo. Now, I’m pretty glad I persisted, because Ole Flamingo is actually pretty decent. Very good lasting power, and opaque in one swipe. However, I have got a few lipsticks in this color already, so decided to let this go as well.
I also got Happy Nude Year, but it was an unhealthy beige color. Meh. I even forgot to take a picture wearing it. Here’s a round up of all the colors I tried. I’m eyeing the Aqua version of this lipstick – from what I see online, the colors are fresh and lively.
I did not like the first batch of Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lip liquids that I got earlier, but I’m liking a couple that I got more recently, Peach Club and Nude-ist. Peach Club is more of an orange-y red on me, and not a very flattering one at that – each time I’m reminded how yellow my teeth are. I like it best blotted and with a lip gloss on top to give it dimension. Nude-ist is not the beige-y color traditionally associated with a nude lip color; on me it is a medium-toned rose color. It’s a great neutral and office-appropriate color, also nice blotted down or worn sheer. I would be keeping this one.
The formula on these are relatively similar to the previous ones, albeit slightly easier to use. It’s still not a big hit with me as I much prefer the unfussy NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams compared to these to give that soft-focus matte effect.
I’ve been enjoying Christina Perri’s Head or Heart album this past week. It’s a great one for me to sing along as her range is about similar as mine though the high register’s a bit hard for me without screeeeching. I’ve been thinking of learning a new skill and voice lessons is one that is on top of the list.
