My favorite girl group of all time would have to be the Sugababes. They were a perfect combination of edge, harmony and catchy tunes. I remember many a work report, road trip and ironing session (!) made more pleasurable with the signature Sugababe sound. But here’s the deal: the line up of the group has changed numerous times over the years that it’s hard to keep up with who’s in the band. However, they’ve pretty much kept the ‘Sugababe’ sound, so I still enjoy whatever lineup is thrown my way – Sugababe 1.0, 2.0, 3.0. Well up to that anyway; I didn’t even know there was a 4.0 until I was researching for this post. And they’ve been in hiatus the last few years.
Recently I found that the original three members of the band had regrouped as MKS (an abbreviation of their names, Mutya, Keisha and Siobhan aka Sugababe 1.0). What a pleasure to hear them together again and be reminded of the original Sugababe sound! If anything, they sound better. I do miss the sound of Heidi though – but one can’t have everything (everyone?). I hope they continue to sing together.
