Review and Swatches: OPI Over & Over A-Gwen

OPI Over & Over A-Gwen

I have never been a red nail polish girl. I admire them, and can appreciate their glow and sophistication, but I find them hard to wear. I’ve owned the OPI classics such as An Affair in Red Square, or I’m not Really a Waitress, but probably worn them once or twice a year that I let them go. The reddest red I have currently is probably OPI Smitten with Mittens, a red with gold glitter, which I actually wear pretty often for play, especially on toes. But a work red? Never had one until I came across OPI Over & Over A-Gwen, from the recent Gwen Stefani collection (I used to be a big fan many years back when she was still with her ska group whose name escapes me right now).

What drew me to the collection was actually the crystals and stickers that came with the set. But while I’ve yet used the crystals (waiting for a special event), I’ve had back-to-back, matching mani and pedi with this amazing red, Gwen’s signature color. It’s bright but not too bright; it works well on feet as well as hands; it complements my skin really well; and does not make me feel like I’m peddling myself. As a bonus, it is almost self-leveling, lasts at least 5 days without chipping (with minimal housework), and would look presentable even with one coat. See for yourself!
